Short version:  Apparently he ran on a contra-dictory platform and that caused some sort of kerfuffle.

The ref gave him a misconduct penalty, which is 10 minutes, not a game misconduct. League has to review all game misconduct penalties to see if additional discipline is warranted. Which sure as hell wasn’t going to happen but the league must be thrilled not to have to clutch their pearls over it.
