The one - and only- concession that I’m willing to make for these grainy heroes of yesteryear is the knock down pitch. It doesn’t exist in the game any longer, for obvious reasons, but it did even as recently as 10 or so years ago. And that makes for one helluva difference when you dig into that batters box.

Hearing that last name reminded me of when I was a wee lad and my dad watched Rangers games on WOR out of NYC. Ric’s older brother Rod played for the Rangers at the time. So did Orland Kurtenbach. So I thought there was some guy on the ceiling and another guy in the curtains during the games.
That’s some human drama of athletic competition right there.
