Unless Microsoft releases an external optical drive add-on for the cheaper SKU, in which case the developers of disc-based games once again won't be able to assume the player has a hard drive.

Just because your internet is fast doesn't mean that everyone can download a few GB in a reasonable amount of time.

It's nothing like the Cell at all, really.

If your argument of time=money held water, then we should conversely be able to unlock all DLC without dropping a dime, by unlocking it with our own skill and determination.

Wouldn't be the first time Notch wrongly accused something of being fake...

Cool. Already playing it thanks to Boot Camp though.

We don't need cell phones like we don't need computers, video games, or POVs. But they sure are nice, aren't they?

Sure nuclear power rarely ever results in catastrophe, but on rare occasion it does. Wind, solar... now those are truly safe.

For the time being, under the assumption that they've learned their lesson and don't try this crap again, I'd say that this apology is more than acceptable.

Some menus in games were just initially constructed in a way that happens to scale nicely, i.e. lots of vector graphics/fonts. Take these games, run them in an emulator at 1080p and you get the same effect.

Sweet, thanks for the heads-up.

It could be the teamwork, it could be the intensity, or maybe it's just the satisfying nature of getting a headshot. Or could it be all of the above? :O

So the online requirement is there so you don't have to have separate offline and online profiles and to prevent cheating? Well then... Since it's not about DRM, how about the option to create an offline-only profile for those who desire the ability to play offline?

Wow, what a narrow-minded fanboy. Just because all a game needs to be fun is good gameplay doesn't mean that they can't strive to be more. The presence of cutscenes doesn't automagically make a game worse, and in fact can make a game better.

Okay, and? It might not take months to read a single book, but if all you do is sit around and read books, the risk is the same.

To be honest, this would be amazing. There'd be a whole lot less worrying about console exclusives. And Nintendo would be royally fucked.

Yeah they do. Not to sound like some paranoid conspiracy-theory nutjob, but they're probably gonna succeed us eventually. I don't think it'll be anything like Terminator though, so long as we're smart about it and make them into an extension/evolution of ourselves rather than reject them as something entirely separate

Then it's not ok for TV, movies or books then either. There should be something more on their mind... lmfao, give me a break.

I don't think this is a big deal. Online services aren't free to maintain. I'd rather buyers of used games have to pay a small fee for online play in their used games than have everyone pay a monthly fee for online play in all their games.

Amen.
