Voyager had several changes that stuck. They had Seska as a returning threat (for better or for worse). They brought back Brad Dourif to save the day. They kept the Borg children for a while (and Icheb indefinitely). They finally followed through with Tom and B’elanna’s story and married them. They (finally) got rid

The episode isn’t terrible, and I liked it better the second time I saw it. But unless you’re a big fan of baseball and/or lighthearted episodes, “Take Me Out...” is hardly must-watch TV.

While I appreciate the efforts The Orville makes, I really don’t think they handle Moclan culture (or Bortus and Klyden) all that well. MacFarlane is sincere, but his “message” episodes don’t really compare to, say, TNG because he isn’t very good at fleshing out both sides. MacFarlane doesn’t come across as a deep

I loved how DS9 didn’t shy away from writing living, breathing characters who evolved and grew. I loved that the stationary aspect of life in one location allowed for more depth of storytelling and a greater sense of connectivity.

However, I don’t think it’s entirely accurate to say that TNG lacked ambition. TNG

I think that, at its best, TNG is slightly better than DS9. But DS9 is certainly more consistent.

I really like Kira/Odo. I just hate that it was Vic Fontaine that brought them together, haha

Yeah, I’ve never been a huge fan of  “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” And I love baseball.

I’m sure these posts are sponsored by CBS All Access, hence the plug. But this is 100% right. Star Trek is on Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Yeah, but there’s also a handful of episodes on here that, at least in my opinion, aren’t really “must-watch.” (see: Crossover).

Still, I wouldn’t say “all of them” because a casual viewer can easily skip most of S1, half of S2 and a good chunk of S7 (re: any Ezri-centric episode).

I personally think that Vic Fontaine was the worst idea DS9 ever had (sans “Let He Who is Without Sin,” by far the worst episode of the series), so I’m perfectly fine with skipping all the episodes where he plays more than a peripheral role in the plot.

“Move Along Home” isn’t the worst episode of DS9, though. That honor belongs to “Let He Who is Without Sin...” which is an utterly irredeemable waste of an hour, a stinking pile of shit, and proof positive that the relationship between Worf and Dax never made a damn bit of sense.

There’s a good handful of episodes on this list that I really don’t think are that great, and you could probably skip them without missing out on much. Crossover is fun but hardly essential. Some of the Ferengi episodes are truly bad (though obviously “The Magnificent Ferengi” is great fun), and “Looking for Par’Mach”

Dukat is an absolutely amazing villain. BUT...but...I think his arc should have ended when he killed his own daughter. His last great episode was “Waltz,” and after that he lost most of what made him so intriguing.

He’s still fantastic nevertheless.

I think we can credit D.C. Fontana with a lot of that as well. She was largely responsible for writing the series Bible, who the characters were and how they were supposed to behave. Star Trek wouldn’t have been the same (and wasn’t the same; see S3) without her influence. (I feel bad for S3 of Star Trek. It has a bad

Honestly, I think we can chalk it up to lazy writing. I watched DS9 all the way through a couple years back and that stood out to me as well. I doubt a couple of two-minute cameos from actors who were probably already on the Paramount lot shooting an episode for TNG would have been all that expensive. Oh well.

Thank you for a very thoughtful reply. Like you, I don’t agree with every item on this list; I would remove every S1 episode other than “Farpoint” and “Conspiracy,” and *maybe* add “Heart of Glory.” The rest of S1 can be missed without consequence.

I agree that the Q episodes generally aren’t very good, and the only

I knew Rosa was going to win right from the very beginning.

I still enjoy the show and still think it’s funny, but it’s also pretty clear that it’s best days are behind it. The show is more of a workplace comedy than a police procedural comedy.

“The Omega Glory” is the worst episode of TOS. The idea that the Yangs would believe Tracey’s propaganda about Spock after he literally killed hundreds of their compatriots with a phaser is only topped in stupidity by the Yangs trotting out a motherfucking American flag.

God I hate that episode.

The rest of what you say

Does it really count as a spoiler if it’s 32 years old?
