My thoughts exactly. Haven’t watched it yet, but from what I’ve seen of S2 so far, it isn’t inspiring any confidence at all - and the season is already half over! It’s somehow managed to be a step down in quality from the first season, which was already spotty in places.

Maybe MacFarlance should focus on some

This is amazing.

Uh... when have Star Trek characters really ever demonstrated an uncanny familiarity with 20th century pop culture? I’m trying to think of moments, but there’s not a lot.

Let’s see. In TOS, Kirk quotes a relatively obscure Earth poem by John Masefield: “All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer by.” (Note: the poem

Barclay's fantasies weren't harmless because he was using the images of fellow officers in disrespectful and sometimes sexual ways.

I have no idea how this merited a B+. It was tedious. No real plot to speak of, nothing propelling the episode from point to point. This is a “15th episode in a 24-episode season” kind of show. It’s a terrible season opener. This show hasn't earned a "Data's Day" yet.

I think I watched the first season or so of Supernatural - I’m glad I stopped there. Trying to keep up with 300+ episodes of... whatever Supernatural is now (they still a pair of demon hunters?) sounds like actual work.

The arc actually begins with “The Emissary” in S2. While not explicitly connected to “Sins of the Father,” et. al., it introduces K’eyhler, who is actually a pretty important piece of the arc.

And yes, that Klingon arc is one of the best things about TNG. Worf had some of the best episodes in the series.

I’ve never understood the demand for a television series based on Section 31. I like Discovery, but I don’t care one bit for xenophobic tyrants. This is a Star Trek series I have absolutely no interest in watching.

This movie was such a huge breath of fresh air for me. As someone who has grown rather tired of the cut-and-paste, relentlessly fast-paced Marvel movies, this was something genuinely fresh and fun.

I’d expect a military officer to be a little better educated than the average layperson, especially 400 years in the future.

Then again, we’re talking about Kelly Grayson. When asked to quote a great poet of her people, she quoted Beyonce. I’m not hating on Beyonce now, but she’s not exactly Lord Byron.

If I had to pick between Dredd and Castle, I would of course pick Dredd. Dredd is a bastard, but he is at least upholding the laws and his own sense of justice. Castle is just out for revenge.

As someone who actually works at an Amazon Fulfillment Center, I would hardly describe the working conditions as “unspeakably cruel.”

Am I the only one who think Spock just looks like Sybok with his beard?

I think that CBS All Access is cheap enough that signing up for one month and just binging Discovery shouldn’t be a big deal. I’m not a huge fan of the service myself, but I also spent more on lunch today than I did on a month of All Access. So that’s not a good enough reason to not watch it for me.

And yeah, lots of

Agreed 100%. I think the Orville has a lot of potential, but Seth needs to do a lot less writing and silly pop culture references.

Does Crazy Rich Asians really count as defining an era? It came out two months ago.

I don’t want to watch a movie about undead pets. Not now, not ever.

Thank you.

Interesting take, at least. :)

To be fair, that was a rather terrible rendition of “Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” tLtWatW and Prince Caspian were significantly better movies.

I think the Narnia stories have plenty of ideas to plumb, especially if they don’t worry about adapting the books so much as the stuff that happens in between the books. I mean, hundreds or even thousands of years span in Narnia in just a few short years in our time. That’s an awful lot of material to be potentially
