And precisely what superpowers do Batman or Iron-man have? Their superpower is fabulous wealth, which affords them the luxuries of technological innovation (Iron-Man) or technological ingenuity (Batman).

But let’s be real here: Stark and Wayne are superheroes only because they were born into wealthy families. If they

Pretty sure you’re being sarcastic here. “Conspiracy” isn’t great, but it’s fun. And compared to the rest of season one TNG, it’s a diamond in the rough.

Yep!

It might even be better. The Paddington movies are really fun.

And they were right to do so. Saru has proven himself a capable first officer and even a capable captain. Burnham is a good person, but man is her judgment ever shaky sometimes.

The most important concept you teach young children is obviously “Cookie Good.”

I’m not quite sure that’s true. It’s pretty clear from “Errand of Mercy” that the Klingons and the Federation were prepared for all-out war with each other. In “Day of the Dove,” Mara explains that the Klingon worlds are poor, and conquest is how they maintain their strength. “We must push outward to survive.”

I love Hannah Simone as an actress. Beautiful and talented. This should be fun!

Yes, many of the Klingons were made up to resemble Mongolians/Koreans/Chinese, and there was certainly a racial factor to it. But that’s definitely not the same as blackface, which was explicitly created to mock and ridicule people who were enslaved and oppressed for centuries.

The Klingons may have been marked as

Okay, so...this was not the best episode. A little too neat and tidy, and the action (once again) seems to be over as soon as it began. And a little hollow. I know wrapping up a story like this is challenging, but they seem to forget they can make the episodes longer. It can be 55 minutes long. No one will complain.

But

I’m hoping season two will be more in line with classic Trek.

The redheaded lady has a name! Detmer. Couldn’t tell you about the rest, though.

Bringing Uhura on board the Enterprise in The Corbomite Manuever was actually a huge gamble, and CBS wasn’t exactly thrilled with the casting of Nichelle Nichols. But they went along with it anyway. That’s why TOS was such a big deal for many in the African American communities of the time. There was no one else like

Also, the Enterprise didn’t abandon Pike while he was trapped on Talos IV. That’s not how Starfleet crews operate.

I was hoping Saru would step up. But since he didn’t.......no clue.

The look of the Enterprise was close enough for me to accept it. It wasn’t radically different, and it was closer than the way the Enterprise appeared in nuTrek. And honestly, I think they made the right choice. Enteprise NX-01 basically retconned Star Trek ship design, and it had blue lights on the engine nacelles.

I agree. I really enjoyed the show, but I’m not blind to the plot holes and weak characters. But one thing it rarely lacked was fun. And while this isn’t the deepest Trek or the most thougful or consistent Trek, it was a lot of fun. But it’s still not as fun as TOS.

You could make an argument that “Conspiracy” at the end of season one was the first good episode. It still has one of the most visually striking moments of the entire franchise.
