This was supposed to be the 9th episode. Of course, the episode that closed the season was actually the second episode. *sigh*
At least they seemed to have dropped the “skeptical Leroy” from the writing.

I don’t think he’s seen Enterprise, and he evidently forgot about The Defiant from “The Tholian Web.” I would have deleted my own comment RE: the matter, but Kinja won’t let me because Kinja is the devil.
What are you talking about? Zack has watched and reviewed over 400 episodes, starting with Kirk and going all the way to Ben Sisko. He is definitely a fan.
His reviews of Discovery are a little more negative than my impressions, but that doesn’t invalidate his opinions. And your suggestion that he’s not a fan because…
To be clear, Discovery did not *have to* have a gay couple or a black female lead. These were choices the showrunners made, not requirements handed down to them by CBS or Netflix executives.
I almost have to wonder, are there people out there that find The Closer offensive because the main character was a woman? Was…
Well, it’s certainly possible Lorca is indeed Mirror Lorca. But you can’t deny that humans in the Mirror Universe tend to be emotionally unstable, and would have a very hard time blending in with our universe unless, they were incredibly intelligent.
Lorca is certainly intelligent enough to pull something like that…
My suspicions are raised, but I’m still not entirely convinced. For Lorca to be Mirror Lorca would make Mirror Lorca the most sane human in the entire Mirror Universe, barring Smiley one hundred years later.
The difference was that both of these were strong episodes that used the double (of Kirk) or the erratic behavior (mainly of Spock) as opportunities to tell good stories and develop believable characters. Watching Spock struggle to control his human side in such an early episode made it clear to viewers from the very…
Let’s get real here for a moment. The UFP of supposed to be a kind of worldwide government that represents all of earth. White people only represent about 15% of the earth’s population, roughly one billion or so, between the US and Europe. (Canada and Australia’s populations are too small to be statistically…
Part of me thinks Lorca might be Mirror Universe Lorca, but if he was, he must have been an unusually decent man by Mirror Universe standards. It’s been established that Mirror personalities of our universes tend to be unhinged. There are a couple exceptions, such as Spock with a Goatee and Smiley, but generally…
@ Zack Handlen I think it’s been a while since you watched and reviewed the Original Series, but it did feature the U.S.S. Defiant. It was trapped in a part of space that was fluctuating in and out of existence. Kirk was stuck on the Defiant when it winked out of our space, the Tholians showed up, Spock attacked them,…
I’m not saying anything about Reagan, other than it’s unlikely that he would live for ten years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s had that condition gone undiagnosed for half a decade or more.
Unfortunately, senile isn’t a medical diagnosis, and it is impossible to survive Alzheimer’s for 30+ years.
Yeah, but he wasn’t diagnosed until 1994. The best prognosis for Alzheimer’s is about 10 years, so it’s highly unlikely he had Alzheimer’s while he was president.
I’m all for respecting the office of the Presidency. But since the President himself clearly doesn’t give a damn about the respect that office is due, it’s hard for me to care as well.
Ronald Reagan left office in 1988 and died in 2004. The prognosis for Alzheimer’s is roughly 10 years at best. There is almost no chance he could have lived 16+ years with that diagnosis.
This episode ends on the most obvious place it could end. And I guess that’s fine, because it’s heartwarming and affectionate and whatever. But it still ended how I expected. I expect more from this show than that.
Tell Vladimir hello for me!
Yeah, this episode was pretty bad. All of the major beats I saw from a mile away. I know sitcoms are predictable, but this was too much.
For me, that’s more of a commentary on America than anything. Any toothless hillbilly from Arkansas can go on WoF and win money. You actually need to know things to be on Jeopardy. So naturally you’re not going to win as much.
p.s. I mentioned Arkansas specifically because I lived there.
wait...are all of those real tweets?
