At least in Star Trek, no one acted so incompetently and moronically as LaMarr. I actually cheered when the admiral said LaMarr would have to get himself out of his situation. If you’re going to be that stupid on a potentially dangerous world, you deserve what’s coming to you.

Guinan!

There were many things wrong with this episode. It smacks of lazy writing.

If Seth McFarlane wants his show to be taken as serious science fiction, he might want to bring in other science fiction writers. The cracks in his scripts are showing.

Also, the whole “parallel development” thing really got under my skin for

This is the important one.

Really not a fan of T-Swifts electropop music. This might actually be worse than anything on 1989. Also, she’s really not very talented at rapping, is she?

That might be the exact alarm clock used in the episode. Why? Just, why?

There are obviously more than five people watching the show. This is a very expensive TV show, and from what I understand, Netflix won’t be funding the second season. I very much doubt they would authorize a renewal if there weren’t the numbers to support it.

I’m happy if for no other reason than it will shut up all the assholes who were “certain” this show would never make it to a second season.

The S’ona did end up joinging the Dominion after Picard was through, so you may be on to something.

Patrick Stewart was amazing as Picard! Agree to disagree. :)

TOS obviously had the best pilot. It’s kind of by virtue of necessity, but without the TOS pilot, there is no Star Trek.

Plus, the pilot (both of them) are pretty damn ambitious adventures.

The Klingon redesign honestly didn’t bother me too much. Their skin looks a little plastic-y, but I can still tell they’re Klingons.

Oh, and I actually LOVED that they talk in Klingon. Loved, loved, loved it.

Oh my god does it ever! I just watched the first two episodes (I was trying to be patient and wait till the end of the season, but the threat of spoilers was too dangerous to risk it), and then I watched the 7th episode of The Orville, which was so bad it was painful to watch.

Now, I have actually enjoyed several

I noticed several references to Star Trek, in props, in sound effects and in dialogue (the reference to Donatu V, for example). I didn’t catch a single reference to the Abrams movies.

How the hell is everyone on this show so STUPID? How does LaMarr not realize that humping a statue might be a bad way to avoid attracting attention? I know LaMarr is stupid, but he’s still a trained military officer!

Why the hell would Alara intentionally turn around to face the cashier when she knows she has an alien

I couldn’t agree more. Little touches like Kermit the Frog are pretty harmless, and Kermit (as an icon) is already over 60 years old. By contrast, Seinfeld, while undeniably funny and influential, is almost as dated as The Brady Bunch. (But not quite.)

Pop culture jokes made McFarlane a millionaire, but that sort of

I think they mentioned that Annie has a boyfriend, but I’m not sure.

Sadly, I saw it coming too. Some human beings are just too pure for this world.

I think the best part of the Gambit episodes is the Data-Worf captain-first officer part. That would have made a great spin-off in its own right.

DS9 wasn’t really great right out of the gate. The first season had four or five really enjoyable episodes, but most of it was mediocre. The last quarter of season 2 was really good, but 10 great episodes out of 46 isn’t what I’d call great right out of the gate.
