I meant the Simpsons thing up there (but also Kara’s post, yes, mean). I don’t think there’s any shame in trying? Even if you’re rich as hell? It actually made *me* feel bad for trying different careers. I know, it’s not about me. Just, well. I’m having a day, man! Unnecessarily mean post is unnecessary!

I must be particularly sensitive today because this just feels SO MEAN

They’re the same print because they’re branded for a cause, I’d imagine. This is so unnecessarily mean, as is the other article about her. Yes, she shouldn’t have this much attention. But she’s still a person, last time I checked. You guys, sometimes. Feminist shmeninist is how I feel about you when this shit pops up.

“LA told me,/you’ll be a pop star. All you have to do is/change everything you are,” - Pink. Ever since that song came out, I’ve had a pretty poor impression of the guy. Anyone else remember this video and song?

I’m confused by this sentence: “Absolutely true, but I don’t think it’s because black women are viewed as inherently unattractive in comparison with white women.” Was definitely never implying anything like that, but that more bodies are considered beautiful among Black folks.

Thanks. Maybe benefit of the doubt next time? That’s asking too much on the internet, isn’t it?
; )

Errr...re: your meme, meanie: I’m pretty aware of white folks’ systemic privilege. I’m not playing a tiny violin here. Just stating a cultural difference. Black women are better at seeing beauty in all sizes, full stop. And it does suck that white women feel this way...it’s not fucking slavery shitty, or systemic

I know. What’s even more shocking is that despite all the technological progress we’ve made - and the move from real-reality to living in more of a virtual reality - comedy shows have still found a way to be funny. It must be harder without all the limited-tech-hijinx! of old sitcoms.

I also think there are different standards/expectations for white women. Like, if this was Jill Scott, she’d just be seen as a badass motherfucker, no comment. But there’s still this skinny obsession in the white community that is just ugh.

and now Tom Selleck is talking about his new CD-changer...omg. I seriously want to catalog all of this.

I think she’s trying to be, like, Asian. She looks gorgeous, though.

Speaking of Matthew Perry, I just delved into FRIENDS on Netflix and HOLY SHIT does the technology date that show. On one show, Chandler was STOKED about his hunk of a laptop with all the megabytes that had “spreadsheet capabilities!” And the screen was GREEN, ya’ll. In another, Joey and Chandler are positively stoked

I always thought his comedic timing was effing awesome on P&R (apparently he started as a bit actor and then gained a spot as a regular). People that are that talented in comedy are often great dramatic actors as well.

Well, it’s not obvious to him that his confusion over this makes him not socially liberal. He’s making his confusion clear and is open to learning, so I don’t think it’s necessary to be so dismissive.

I had a minor freakout that It’s Always Sunny was totally over (AssKickers United episode seemed like a weeeird show finale) but apparently it’s been renewed for two more seasons....JOY OF JOYS
(Also “The series will become the longest-running live-action comedy in cable history” according to its wikia....noice).

Good argument....

Finding more examples would require me to listen to the stuff! I’m sure there’s a Demi Lovato in there or some such...But it’s seriously all over the radio. You know it when you hear it, on account of the “OUCH”

Does this production quality on the vocals - wildly popular on the radio - make anyone else feel like their ears are bleeding? It’s like this high-pitched auto-tuned powerpop faux-powerment thing and it just gives me the shivers. Whenever I hit these songs on the radio I have to change it fast because I damn near

But the thing is...he never just paid “lip service to social issues.” He explored them with nuance. That’s what makes this so confusing/upsetting.

It’s frightening how much the second bit of that expression looks like Tom
