I know that you can’t always see every pothole, or avoid every pothole in every situation. Let me state that up front. I live in Chicago. Potholes are a way of life. I’ve driven my lowered BRZ into some invisible potholes at night that had the car basically fall onto its front bumper. I’ve also hit potholes violently

I’ve driven a 911 with stock 20" wheels for a few years through LA, over numerous potholes and never experienced a problem. Before that it was an AMG with 20" standard wheels, never a problem.

Those tires are also constructed much differently than a street tire. This is an absurd comparison.

And as you said, these are mandated, not chosen by the teams for ultimate performance.

Big wheels are a necessity because people keep buying huge cars with huge wheel wells. Stop buying stupid and bad cars.

My view is that there will always be more pristine, better preserved, more original examples of my mass-produced old car (TR6), so I feel no obligation to preserve mine. I don’t abuse it, but I don’t baby it either, and I’m happy to mod it if it makes it safer, more comfortable, quicker, while maintaining the essence

HOLEY SHIT! I KNOW THIS CAR!

I completely disagree. The First model Stingray was a Ferrari killer, and I think the most stylish Vette ever built. Vettes are hit or miss. The 1970's and most of the 80's were a total loss due to emissions, but I like the C5 for its simplicity, and I really like the C6. I don’t think that GM has lost the plot. I

I came to the same conclusion about my dad's vette growing up. Yeah the suburban guy with a Corvette is a cliche, but he drove that thing to work every single day. On a long commute. He didn't care what other people thought about it, he just wanted to enjoy his ride to work.

Doc Brown traded in his Delorean for something period correct

This car highlights why all those “tHe CoRvEtTe Is ThE bArGaIn SuPeRcAr!” tools frustrate the hell out of me. The Corvette was not intended to be a giant slayer, that’s not its nature. It is supposed to be a stylish vehicle with enough oomph to satisfy. It was to be seen in, and to be seen enjoying, just like this man

WHAT? It’s by far the nicest interior in its class and beyond. Have you actually sat in one?

Oh god.
