@KamWrex: I'm Heather from DollarStoreCrafts, and the one with the narrow candlestick base works great as a candy jar. I have candy corn in it right now! As long as the jar is well-balanced on the candlestick, it works great.

@mrs_helm: Nice practical application - thanks!

@AmphetamineCrown: The beauty of Knock-Off Wood is that she demystifies the process of building for people who have no idea what "dadoing" is... There's definitely a place in this world for beginner woodworking projects, which is why people are flocking to her blog, and not Ridiculously Intimidating Woodworking Snobs,

You can get a pack of 3 punch balloons at Dollar Tree for $1 for this project, or an inflatable beach ball also works.

@ACwriter: C'mon... knitters have more yarn than they know what to do with! This is a fun stashbusting idea!

@ScottKuma: What if you used a compact fluorescent bulb? They're not supposed to be very hot.

You asked, I'll answer!

Apparently Fritos (greasy corn chips!) are a good thing to keep in your pocket in the wild... supposed to work well as firestarters, too. (I think I saw that tip on Survivorman...) #diy

Wow, it works on the crusty cheese test? Wonder how it works on a scorched milk-product pan bottom? I don't have a dishwasher, thus no dishwasher detergent, but might be worth investing in a small box (or stealing a baggie of my mom's when I visit her). #household
