I’m compartmentalizing all that and remain interested solely as Star Wars-flavored train heist movie.

I personally loved TLJ. It had legitimate structural problems, but what it does well is so much more interesting than what it flubs. But I completely sympathize with not liking the movie and as a consequence being lumped together with the idiot reactionaries who have defined opposition to this movie through sheer

It’s interesting to me that he says they don’t want a Han Solo backstory, because I don’t want one either. But I guess I always figured that was the exact kind of thing the fussy, detail-obsessed super fandom did want. An obliteration of mystery. He’s an idiot about everything else, natch.

For sure. Television allows the opportunity to real dig into these character developments. Movies, naturally, are going to have to rely on a lot more narrative shorthand.

I’ve seen so many stupid, contrary arguments from these dopes. Disney only cares about money, so they’ll make sure the next movie has Mara Jade to appease the fans after the TLJ. Or that Disney only cares about money, so they’ll keep making Star Wars movies that ruminate on failure and loss and how we can grow beyond

Only tangentially related to your junk culture lingo faux pas, but I enjoy thinking about the people upset that Rey is capable in the force without any training, but are satisfied by the 3-day weekend Luke spent on Dagobah.

The incredibly faithful -and more importantly- cool looking Mean Machine and ABC Warrior was especially incongruous given the rest of the movie. In general, the movie did a better job of capturing the comic absurdity of Mega City 1 than Urban’s Dredd, but the characters were all so terrible. Except Max Von Sydow, of

I’m as surprised as anyone that this is compelling TV. The premise is so pointless to terrible, I couldn’t imagine it being worthwhile. But I did enjoy the first episode.

I think it’ll be a fun romp, which is just fine. Star Wars movies are going to ground out at a frantic clip from now until they’re no longer profitable, so there’s no point in treating them with the same level of religious sanctity as we did when they only care out every 10-20 years. So I’m adjusting expectations

“Here’s where we get to learn each pedantic detail about Han solo to spackle in every detail that had already existed perfectly fine in your imagination!”

“because he is an obsequious slimeball even more slovenly with language than his forebears were in the dispensation of their chromosomes”

So far, on social media at least, she’s been providing solid rebuttals to the criticism.

I think we can all agree it’s perfectly fine to stand up against the encroaching totalitarianism and and malicious negligence this administration is waging against it’s own country, but not if a comedian is going to get a little sassy about it.

1) I was excited when I first heard the details of City of Brass, but none of the previews have enthused me much. I think that’s more due to my preconception of having former Bioshock developers involved would make it a visually distinctive game, and this looks fairly bland. But maybe it’s a blast to play! Here’s

God. I can picture you lifting that out like a frame of the world’s grossest honeycomb.

Obviously haute fashion charges people absurd amounts of money for clothing made of less esoteric materials than latex, but considering any decent latex clothing is still essentially couture by nature of the niche quality of the fabric -and still a fraction of the cost of these gloves- go and support a smaller

This is a manufactured debate. Cookie dough is awesome and fine and that’s as close as we have to objective truth in this day and age.

For sure. I mean, dismissive-sounding comment notwithstanding, I still have fun at these movies. I’d like to think I would actually stop going if I didn’t. But the air of completely self-inflicted inevitability I’ve cultivated around the Marvel films is worth noting.

Naw, I think that’s totally fair. And I certainly don’t begrudge anyone who’s excited for this. I like it when people like things. All I’m saying is I haven’t felt as much as a twinge of enthusiasm for it, and the characters getting lost in the computer generated set pieces has been a big reason why.

Since when have we been dapper?
