I have a feeling Apple rushed it out so they could hit the christmas rush, and in March when the next iPad is announced, a new retina iPad mini will be released as well.... and piss off the people who bought the iPad mini now

Yep- I watched Something About Mary again the other day, and she is in that one scene in the restaurant table.. looks exactly the same in 1998 as now.

at least for me, facebook + google+ is basically facebook, the same way 1 + 0 = 1....

I really think Google is FANTASTIC at making new technologies and coming up with great ideas- arguably better than Apple... but Google just doesn't get people and how people interact with the world- a lot of their ideas are theoretically great until you consider that (Wave, Buzz, etc). That's what Apple has over

is this going to EVERY Staples? Or just a few in major cities?

I'm pretty sure that's Gizmodo Editor Leslie Horn

I got something like this for my then girlfriend a few years back. I actually booked a weekend to a bed and breakfast and so didn't really have anything to wrap... so I got one of these prankboxes, put a few of my old college textbooks in it so it felt heavy enough to be legit, and then put an invitation with the

Do you know if the email delivery iTunes gift cards work in the Mac App Store?

Best rule of thumb- do not take your phone out of your pocket- voice control is your friend. If you do need to take the phone out, do not be sitting by the train door, and do it in between stops.

Eh, not really so much for desktops... laptops, a bit (though almost everyone I know who needs a new laptop is considering Macbook Airs or Pros).. but Desktops, Mac Mini's cost as much as any cheap Desktop computer now, and iMacs, while not incredibly cheap, when you consider the fact you don't need to buy a separate

Yeah because the average consumer, who is afraid of technology for the most part, is going to use Linux...

Agreed- people will stay with Windows 7, but eventually when people need new computers, whichever way they choose to go, Windows or OS X, the change will be pretty radical. It's not going to be a choice between an incremental upgrade with the same user experience vs a whole new OS anymore.

I'm not worried about performance- I know it's better... it's quite impressive that it works on more machines than Windows 7 even. But to the average consumer (ie, our parents) who tend to be afraid of tech changes and change of workflows, it won't matter how fast the performence is if they can't figure out how to

This has nothing to do with performance, it's more the average consumer not liking new interfaces and would prefer to go back to the old way, at least until they can learn the new thing. Most "average" consumers.. ie our parents... don't know hotkeys and stuff...

I'm thinking about it from the average consumer's point of view who do not like change in technology and UI's. Most people on these forums are techies (me included) and don't mind the change and will learn it... but the average consumer is not like that and like what they are used to and don't want change. Forcing a

Eh I think the average consumer of technology enjoys repetition... they know what to look for- that little blue button with the windows logo in the bottom left corner... and that everything is in there in a menu form. If you want two things running, you hit the minimize button on the top right. That is also the

Not saying Windows 8 is a bad choice... just saying it may screw over Microsoft in some ways because a decent portion of the customer base is with windows because it's what they know and are comfortable with... that won't be the case anymore

Well, when anyone's current computer dies or needs to be replaced, they'll be forced to either Windows 8 or OS X... Remember, I'm talking about the average consumer here who doesn't know what Linux, Chrome Books, etc are really.

For my iPhone I just shut off iMessage in settings and using regular old texts for now

not from the car dealership you bought it from...
