I thought it meant he was playing a Johnny Cash impersonator.

Duh! He’s that dude Roland is following across the desert.
Or he’s trying to find the center of the Westworld maze.
Oh, goodie: exploitation of the mentally ill! Who consented on her behalf, I wonder? It sure as hell doesn’t look like she could.

100% agree. I love Faerie Tale Theatre so much, and it makes me sad that someone who created something so delightful is in such bad shape. I hope she gets the help and support she needs.
Faerie Tale Theatre is an extraordinary achievement. the talent in front of and behind throughout the series is breathtaking. Jean Stapleton was the greatest fairy godmother I’ve ever seen.
He did this as a twisted directorial technique.
First..
Her Lindsay Lohan docu series was in stunningly poor taste. I watched all eight episodes and was so into it, I’m not proud of that. Also she told us to give Trump a chance. Thanks girl, thank you for the nice words atop your giant pile of money.
My preferred memory of her: as a 20-year-old discovered local (Houston) talent by Robert Altman, with a pre-Harold and Maude Bud Cort, in Brewster McCloud.
I wish Oprah had also not exploited Lindsay Lohan. I’m really tired of Oprah being treated like a patron saint of America.
I loved Faerie Tale Theatre as a kid. This is devastating to see. Shelley was quirky as all get out,and really seemed like a sweet natured soul. Robert Altman discovered her working at a makeup counter in a department store and gave her a walk on gig. Her film with Altman, 3 Women, is a superb outing for both.
I really do not understand the cult of Oprah. She’s done some good things (like gave my favorite homeless shelter a million dollars) but she’s also introduced lots of crap to the world.
The woman who gave us this treasure, which warms my heart whenever I’m in a dark place, deserves far, far better than Doctor Fucking Phil.
No. No. No. No. I’ve been digging through old articles about Faerie Tale Theatre, and she was straight up an innovator in cable, video and children’s programming- I can’t bear seeing a woman so ahead of her time being exploited like this.
I really wish that Oprah had never brought Dr.’s Phil & Oz out of the grays.
The fact that he’s airing this is DISGUSTING.
I think this is super exploitative of Dr. Phil, but it’s exactly the kind of thing I expect from him.
Just a reminder...
