The episode so nice he wrote it twice. It was considered so terrible and there was so much fan backlash that the creators of the show came out and announced that it was "non-canon".

Ugh, Genesis was a pretty terrible episode. It was out-ridiculoused, however, by the Voyager episode "Threshold", in which Tom Paris and Katherine Janeway evolve (or de-evolve?) into lizards. They're discovered at the end of the episode on a swampy planet, where they MATED, producing three lizard offspring. Yes.…

I think the first few seasons had a firm grasp on the world it was creating and played by the rules. Once the angels came, any sense of "reality" went out the window and things got heavily meta. I think we're in a firm fantasy setting at this point. It's still fun, but it does lack that certain gritty, believable…

I don't when you saw it, but certain cliches like this one were actually fresh once. If you saw it -after- seeing the million copy cats that have done it since then it's easy to see coming.

I enjoyed the whole episode, including Air Supply — and especially how they played it too long. That made it even funnier.

My favorite part of this awful, awful show was watching Matthew Perry's character get praised as a comedic genius for coming up with some of the least funny skits in the history of television. I always loved that disconnect. It's like on TNG how you constantly hear Worf is this total badass, then you see him in action…
