I actually am disturbed by spousal abuse (any realistic violence, really) even if I don't know, much less care about, the victim. If it's silly, over-the-top cartoon-y stuff I don't care, but stuff like the Family Guy "Aquaman watches a rape which means we watch an anonymous woman get raped for two minutes" is still

@Mute - I live in the US and have comparatively good insurance. I had to wait over a year to get a physical. That doctor quit and I'm not allowed to go to any other doctor in the practice because they're all over-booked. They're hiring a new one, but that might take 1-2 years. I could technically switch practices

I believe some claim it has to be a reference to anal rape, though personally I always picture a cartoon character landing on a cactus and grabbing his butt, so who knows.

I'll agree with that. I don't think it would be a very interesting direction for the show to go in, in large part because Trinity had that effect for a big chunk of the season. And I completely agree that there just isn't a serial killer who's a nice guy. That simply does not occur.

From the review:
"Barnes isn't just a murderer, he abused his wife and son, who were all too happy to see him disappear."

"I wish that, for once, there could be another serial killer on this show besides Dexter who is a basically stand-up guy if not for the whole murder thing.
You should watch Season 4."
Are you referring to Trinity, who beat his family severely and was building coffins for them?

The son said his mom printed out the pictures for LaGuerta. They have not been sitting in a shoebox since 2007.

I figured it was so Isaak could protect his son from people going after Isaak. If he looks like just another mob dude, he's less likely to be targeted by people with a vengeance. That said, lover is probably a more likely explanation.

I don't have a problem with the serial killers on this show abusing their families. That's the behavior pattern. And Dexter is presented as very much the exception to the pattern - it's always a big deal when he meets another killer who passes at all. He can control himself to an unprecedented degree. I think it's
