I would say "classic" has more reason to be offended.
I would say "classic" has more reason to be offended.
If this were at first blush I'd agree with you. Objectively, the scene isn't offensive - just tasteless. But the presenter's comments during the demonstration focusing on the attempted rape cast quite the shadow over its interpretation, and reflected a really inappropriate mindset with respect to its incorporation…
Assuming you wished to take noble road, what you articulated is an argument for more serious treatment of murder/homicide, not less serious treatment of rape.
"People who are allegedly and secretly paid five mao (50 cents RMB) per post/comment that praises, supports, or defends from criticism/attack the country, government, or Communist Party. Netizens who are very nationalistic are often accused of being part of the “50 cent party” spreading propaganda or “guiding” public…
Nobody is saying it cannot be used.
Alot of people made this point thinking it was the main problem, so I have to respond: the issue with this is NOT that rape is being used in fiction. Some people certainly did take offense with this, but IMO, they are wrong, because a host of tragic circumstances arguably equal to or worse than rape are used…
Rape itself is not taboo in fiction. The taboo is how it's used. Lazy writers like to throw it in as a generic female character-building empowering exercise, which doesn't reflect the reality of rape or the experiences of rape victims.
Yeah man. China... haha. China is split in many ways. There are of course some crazy patriotic hawks who still think China is the center of the world, but they are offset by people who know exactly how terrible things are. The second group is comprised mainly of the "90s generation" (meaning kids born in the 90s),…
The blogger really was being sarcastic.
It would not. Even under the Christian worldview, your conviction is the root of your morality, not merely what is carried out in action. Jesus equates the guilt of murder with carrying anger against another in your heart. Therefore, abstaining from bad acts for fear of hellfire will not save you as long as you…
People who say such things give poor testimonial to the Christian faith. They didn't thrive under persecution by running around threatening everyone with condemnation. Christianity needs to go back to its roots.
The point that you clearly understood, but avoided in order to make that remark, is that appealing to nature does not justify any aspect of human behavior, since we are governed by rationality.
But murdering rivals is part of nature; and yet we fault people for it all the same.
Agreed. Otherwise we could just axe the denouement of every book, movie, play, etc., and say it is superior because it lets the viewer imagine the denouement in a manner consistent with their interpretation of the thematic universe.
Yes, in short - appropriate denouement. Which is exactly what the new ending provides via slideshow, debates about its quality/content notwithstanding.
That is actually an excellent question.
The slideshows provide denouement, whereas the original has none. The format could always be better (FMV, in-game animation, etc.), but even if it was just text, it'd still be a million times better than the original. As for the quality of it, well, I agree. I was not particularly floored, but that is offset by…
For me, a big part of it was the art design and the mythos. It just lacks. The Chimera look like silly monsters with guns - which is fine if that's what the game calls for (i.e. Halo's grunts) - but I always got the sense the Chimera were intended to look threatening.
This is so much better than what we got on release. At this point, I guess I'm satisfied, but I wasn't particularly floored. It's impossible to say what my reaction would have been if these were the endings from the start.
i'm 12 years old and what is this?
