The Oscars I think have historically been pretty terrible at picking best song from a motion picture. I think they just like to pick songs from movies that are already winning a bunch of other awards and go "oh, you have a song? Cool, we'll give you that one too".

c'mon Marah Eakin, "A Beautiful Mind" was competing with "Fellowship of the Ring". That should have won!
