There is nothing “anti-capitalist” about unionizing.

Capitalism allows for people to find and develop the organizations that suit them, whether that be working for a large corporation, joining a union, or doing both (or niether) at the same time.

I have no use for straws, so this is really not my fight.

If you are concerned with plastic in the oceans, then plastic straws are 0.03% of the problem. Okay, every little bit helps but focus on the the bigger issues!

It takes as petroleum to process wood into paper than it does to process it into plastic.

And nothing biodegrades in a land-fill.

How did plastic straws become the cause de jour?

I understand the benefits of reducing plastic waste in general (waste in general, plastic or not), and straws add very little satisfaction to my enjoyment of a beverage, so seeing them go is small pain. But it really is a trivial action relative to all the other sources…
