The hell? We’re not sure whether a man renowned for torture and sadism actually hurt his wife on purpose, not because she was “just a virgin”?

It’s time to take your meds.
Hint: Both Jeyne Poole and Sansa in the books do not gain power and grow in the “game”. It’s an unlikely path for this character because she then has nowhere to go. She’s not going to kill Ramsay and she’s not going to take over the North. The best she can hope for right now is escape to lick her wounds.
Touche, actually. But Daenerys did it as punishment for a crime, albeit extreme and unnecessary. She didn’t murder little boys to gain power.
SOME rapists were sent to the Wall. SOME. It’s very vague about who, if any, of those rapists are. It’s possible those are rapists of children or of men, or whatever else men felt were “real” rapists.
Right. I see. So if a woman is unlacing her sleeves, and then she’s subjected to sexual torture, it’s not rape by today’s standards. Got it.
You’re pretty creepy. Yes, I protested all the rape scenes, thanks. Yes, I turned off the tv by Theon’s extended torture sequence, which was extremely unnecessary and not in the book. And the fact that you keep arguing that this was what was coming to her, and that she’s all aware and blah blah just makes us all aware…
Sansa isn’t a most valuable chess piece. Not to him, anyway. And besides, he’s smart enough to know that Sansa is a valuable chess piece to THEM, so they won’t do anything to her until he gets back. And if they do? He got permission to be warden of the north anyway, and he knew Cersei would never tolerate Sansa alive.
Explain to me why women can never be empowered on this show unless they’re first raped to show them how bad things are. Men can somehow be motivated to revenge and justice simply by seeing family members hurt or murdered, but women can never do the same unless they have someone rape the hell out of them.
“Evil things happen to good people”.
So Sansa in her own storyline is only a service so that a MAN character can stop being such a tortured wreck? A man character that is so nefarious that he burned little boys alive? We’re supposed to care that he emerges from his sad little shell?
Exactly. Like somehow Sansa couldn’t be expected to fight the Boltons for betraying her entire family because that’s not motivation ENOUGH. Let’s have her be brutally raped!
Exactly. Are people’s penises being chopped off on every show on television? No. In this particular instance, was Theon in a way deserving of said penis-chopping? After burning little kids alive, maybe. Sansa’s only crime is being a girl. Every woman’s crime on this show seems to be the same.
Nope. His characters change and evolve all the time. Arya, Daenery, Jonah Mormont, whatshisname that slept with Cersei and is now in the Faith. Jon Snow, Sam.
You’re missing the damn point. Yes. You can’t prosecute people for rape in Westeros. Thank you so much for the elucidation, genius. Does that mean that there’s no such thing as rape? The definition of rape as an act and the definition of rape as a criminal offense are two different things, and you don’t need both.…
Hey listen, douchebag. Explain to me how she knew she was expected to be tortured sexually for the rest of her life.
So because in Westeros, people couldn’t be tried and convicted for rape, there was no such thing as rape?
Please. Cersei wasn’t rape-tortured.
That’s the problem. He’s really supposed to be 9.
They have no plan. They’re making shit up as they go along, because they’re been “off books”, and they also have no ending.
