Tiny progress indeed. I think my employer based insurance already "covers" abortions, but only about 70% of the negotiated price. And I don't know if it includes the anesthesia.

    This isn't always true.

Well, yes. Israel's precision tactics WERE less deadly. Considering the claim that Gaza is one of the most populated regions in the world, and yet Syria's body count in one weekend equaled the entire three week scope of Israel's offensive, yes. Israel took care not to indiscriminately target civilians.

Are we to give Syria a pass because they haven't been able to obtain the proper weapons? That they had no choice but to use barrel bombs?

It's entirely impractical to refuse to engage an enemy because there is a chance that one child could die. Innocent children die every day under much more benign circumstances.

I totally forgot him in Dead Again. He's definitely not a scene stealer in there, though. It's kind of a bit part.

Oh I know. I used to live in the Netherlands and know why they lost so many Jews. Those people are just vile.

Not really. California tried to fund all public schools equally instead of relying on local funds (thank you, Prop 13), and still found that - surprise! - certain areas just did worse than others.

The senseless killing of this teenager is a terrible tragedy, and the police force needs an overhaul in terms of punishment for senseless killing. Police officers should be arrested and jailed - not just suspended - for any act where they used violence unnecessarily.

Yes, but if cars get into accidents because one of them blew a stop sign, the consequences usually aren't as severe as someone hitting a bicyclist. Also? Insurance. Drivers carry it. Bikers don't.

Exactly. I can't tell you how many near misses I've had because bicyclists have blown through stop signs and red lights. They're there for a reason.

The mentality arises because cyclists use the road, yet refuse to obey the rules of the road. No, you cannot blow through red lights and stop signs because you're on a bike. No, you can't sit there weaving through traffic impudently. No, pedestrians DO have the right of way. Brake for school buses, dammit.

There have been numerous think-tanks that have analyzed why peace talks have failed from a psychological perspective. In fact, many people were amazed when Arafat rejected pre-1967 border concessions at Camp David, including Clinton. But understanding a culture is key to identifying why various logical road maps for

I think we both agree that every civilian dead is a tragedy. I looked at those boys on the beach, and I cried. And I was furious at whoever fucked up. We (and I include myself, even though I don't live in Israel anymore), are responsible for the death of every innocent.

You don't know what apartheid means. Apartheid means within a government's own state/country, so by definition, Israel can't "manage" an apartheid state over a separate state with its own government and without a single Israeli/Jew within its borders.

    Have you read this yet?

I agree. I understand why the tunnels emerged in the first place, and this is a fascinating article:

Please. Stop taking your news from The Guardian. If you look at Haaretz, condemnation has been on every front page since the war started.

Gaza city is a cramped space. Gaza itself is not. It's not like Hamas is forced to shoot from schools and hospitals.
