“And who in the HELL is Frank Sinatra??”
“And who in the HELL is Frank Sinatra??”
I loved Walk Hard when I finally saw it on DVD - I had many friends I knew would love it too, but they just would. Not. See. It. One sneered “You mean the ‘Doors’ parody with Will Ferrell?” Sigh...I thought it was brilliant, hands-down.
It’s the little things.
I never thought of that, but The Exorcist, Rosemary’s Baby, The Haunting and Psycho came immediately to mind. The Omen is remarkable for having a male lead, very interesting. Suspiria.
Each time I see that I think “That pattern looks hand-stencilled”.
His kids were on that beach too.
It was just jarring reading that immediately after reading your post. I thought I would share.
Actually, I’m kind of curious now about the Swedes-as-turnips thing - is it a thing that exists outside of French & Saunders’ “Mamma Mia!” parody? It did seem kind of weirdly specific that the Swedish daddy-candidate in that was portrayed by a turnip.
I realized reading this article that “Memory” is one of those songs I remember clearly the first time I heard it. It was in high school, and my first boyfriend played for me Barbra Streisand’s recording of it. Wait, the story gets better though - he then played Don McClean’s “American Pie”, which I’d also never heard,…
“Kind of unlikeable”? Obviously, YOU, sir, are the monster. You are.
I just don’t need it, that’s all. What’s to understand? It’s your money, I don’t care one way or the other if you buy the MoviePass product. I just don’t need it. Maybe I’m just an old man who doesn’t need things, and it isn’t nice to badger old people who aren’t with it anymore. You wanna bother people with your…
That bullshit between Dracula and Mina and that backstory and that ending, where he discovers the power of love and UN-FUCKING-DRACULAS? Those things. Garbage.
But I don’t have a problem seeing as many movies as I want. I don’t really want to measure my moviegoing satisfaction in terms of volume consumed, or “getting my money’s worth”.
Right before the MoviePass crash started, a couple of different friends really tried to give me the hard sell on it, for some reason. I mean, I don’t think they owned stock in it or anything. Now, not so much.
Oh...this just made me realize what it will take to get me to finally break down and pay for an internet content service if I have to. Well done, YouTube. Shit.
They already recast her as white legs with an Irish accent. Fifty years ago.
Literally the first thing I thought when I read that- or ever think when I hear “Be Our Guest”.
Not gonna happen. Apparently, YouTube has given in and will switch to a vertical format, whatever that means. I’m trying to think of it as - uh - CinemaScope on its side. Some people hated CinemaScope too! Fritz Lang, for instance.
For years before I saw it (well, saw it willingly) I heard stories from various adults about how this was the one movie that scared them. Interestingly, it seemed like they could never remember the title - but they remembered the door “breathing”, and the holding-hands-in-the-dark scene.
I love this movie too, and have seen it many many times. It wasn’t until the third or fourth time watching it that I realized that THIS was the movie which had traumatized me so badly when I was very very young, and watched it on tv with a beloved uncle who had poor judgement (I mean I was young, like four or five…
