I never liked the OLED on the 1000 model Vita because it's GEN1 model, life time on the display isn't as long, there's that blotching issue, battery life isn't that long, buttons are too small from when I tried it, etc.

I wouldn't mind if they just took the PSone version of FF7, FF8, and FF9 and upres'd the graphics, faster load times, trophies, re-translate things... We don't need a full blown remake. Just a remastered collection would be more likely and perfectly fine.
