There is, in fact, a town in Norway called Tingvoll that is known to have been called Þingvǫllr in Old Norse. So yeah.

Þingvellir is the name of a historic site in Iceland where the first parliament was located, now a stupendous national park. (Vellir is plural, but the way; the singular was vǫllr, völlur in modern Icelandic).
