It was flying in support of the security for Trump at Bedminster. And if you haven’t noticed, there’s 3 major international airports in that vicinity so VFR traffic has only certain areas they can fly through in order to avoid all the arrivals and departures for LGA, JFK, and EWR.

This isn’t unusual, lightning grounds all USAF Ops and not just the F-35 (at least stateside). It’s not so much for the aircraft as it is for the ground crews safety.

That helicopter was firing at the Intelligence building or a police station, not at the civilians on the highway. A loyal F-16 than shot it down.
