@djfreex: While i doubt hes happy about the situation, at the end of the day Activision still have the Call of Duty franchise. People seem to forget, they don't actually need IW to develop the games for the games to sell well. WaW sold millions and broke DLC records at the time.

@Quilt: To make another game on the same level as MW2, then sure, it would take a lot of employees and a few years to develop.

@Communist Agenda: Look at it from the positive, more competition, which in theory will mean higher quality games since they will be all competiting for the same market audience.

While i'm glad they nixed the idea, the thought behind the Wii being the reason for it, seems a bit bizarre. This is probably just one of many reasons..

@tandyman: Its amazing how the haters feel the need to get their 2 cent in everytime a Halo news item pops up and then criticize the people that enjoy the game.

@Thoraxe the Impaler: Ignore people like him. Its cool to hate on popular games that most people like. At the end of the day, while it may be generic in their eyes, chances are most the games they love and enjoy are probably horribly generic too.

@dowingba: Yeah i didn't understand either. I think you have to like really read between the lines, like they cancelled it to save money so they could build natal because they are envious of Wii's success.

@wirebrain: To be fair, both Sony and Microsoft have got the motion envy and ultimately, its a safe bet that no matter how much they want that "Wii audience" they will never get it.

Not really a huge surprise that Activision isn't worried. They have the franchise that made them over a billion and its still continuing to print them money. Any sequel they make, no matter if it drops in quality, its guaranteed to sell millions of copies. Heck they don't even need Infinity Ward actually developing

@KaneRobot: Agreed. While the games don't delve into the story very well, the games focus on gameplay.

@keptsimple81: As some other people already suspect, it probably has more to do with platforms which it currently isn't on. Like you say, i doubt Microsoft is worried in the slightest if its on Mac or Linux, it probably has more to do with wanting it to stay exclusive and off PSN or Wiiware. Atfer all, thats the main

@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: The BC is still there, for the games it supports. Single player games will be unaffected. Its just online matchmaking and original xbox DLC they won't be supported any more. So you won't be able to play Halo 2 online, for example. You can still buy original xbox games through games on

@Kobun: Yeah it doesn't really add up. Saying Microsoft are evil and don't want to support indie developers is totally wrong. As we all know, there are tons of examples (if people care to look) of Microsoft published indie games eventually hitting other platforms (like PS3).

@Donutta: Well they didn't drop those titles because they knew before hand that they'd tank, they dropped them because they weren't yearly sequel material like the Call of Duty/ Guitar Hero franchises are.

@miquonranger03: That is a good way of putting it. And really, its the same with all those XBLA and PSN games you buy. Nothing stops Microsoft/or Sony from pulling an Arcade game off the service one day. Maybe you lose your harddrive or memory card that the game is on and you want to get the game back you paid money

Actually i find that pretty disgusting of Zynga. We've heard of plenty of cases were Microsoft have refunded accidental Microsoft point purchases but this is a serious issue, when someone manages to wrack up a £900 bill.

@Duin: Bare in mind, WoW beta's are treated differently to SC2/Diablo 3. With Wotlk, the only way you could get into the beta, is if you had an active subscription and opted in. I doubt it'll be any different this time. So unless you have an active subscription when the invite waves roll around, you probably

@Kualtek: You can't really fault them though for wanting to promote their next expansion. The press will give them exposure, which in turn will get more people to know about what the new expansion will have to offer.

@Shiroi Kaze: Yup, since it clearly worked again, i can see them bumping the price for the next map pack, or the map packs in the next CoD game.

Quite sad, but then, you have to wonder how much more it would have sold, if they priced it so most people couldn't resist.
