I was shocked Red Dead didnt win. I beat God of War and am almost done with Red Dead and I just think RD2 is a better game but opinions I guess. It’s also weird how early they do these awards. When voting began, most people who had Red Dead for sure hadnt even beaten it yet. And games like Smash came out after the

Oh no, when I say it hasn’t aged well, I just mean that it feels very dated from a technology standpoint. Shenmue is one of my all-time favorite games, and I’m making my family watch me play it this time. It’s 100% still worth playing, so I apologize if I made it seem like I was saying it wasn’t! I think “charm” is a

The (mostly objective) issues I have with the game are A) the awful voice acting and B) the shitty controls. The voice acting makes the game more fun in some ways, but there’s no denying that we’ve come a long way in terms of what we expect from in-game voices. The controls are just way too stiff, and I have no excuse

This was the Dreamcast memory card. Some games had mini games, like sonic adventure where you could raise your chao on the go. Other games would display key info on the screen.

Just finished platinuming both games.

I’m playing the Shenmue games for the first time right now (almost done with the second), and loving every minute of it. Yeah, they’re rough, but there’s nothing else like them. That uniqueness, the sense that somebody made the game they wanted to make instead of the game a focus group or a CEO wanted them to make, is

I’m concerned that if I wait for 3 more re-masters that I’ll likely never get around to playing 6, and have moved onto a new console or genre completely.

I played Yakuza 0 when it came out and hesitated on Kimiwa 1. I picked up Yakuza 6 on sale not too long ago but have yet to play it. Now with Kimiwa 2 so soon, do I picked up Kimiwa 1 and 2 to play first?

I found an unopened (!!) copy of The Last of Us in my queue a few months back - thanks for reminding me what I’m doing this winter...  ^_^

Yakuza 0 and Kiwami also two excellent games that you should take a look even tough they are pretty dialogue heavy, great if you want story focused games. Wipeout collection if you want racing is also a favourite of mine. Until dawn is a possibillity if you have nothing against a qte story driven game were you choises

It’s definitely up there. I had a blast getting lost in Zelda games and the n64/Wii generation got a little repetitive and handholding for my tastes.  Okami has aspects like that as well but there’s a lot of secrets to find and it’s enough of a mixup that I didn’t feel like I had already done it before.

Don’t underestimate the effect Fire Emblem Awakening has had on the franchise. Every Fire Emblem from awakening onwards has sold very well in the west and their mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes made 300 million for Nintendo last year worldwide with about 1/3rd of that being from the US alone. Just because it may not be

If you have any other game recommendations, I’m all ears!

As for which platform to play Okami? I’ll see if we end up getting the kids a Switch and how the reviews are for that version. If nothing else it is a nice stalling tactic since I already have some games for the PS4 that I should play first.

This game sounds like my style. Are there any best or recommended platforms? My kids have a Wii U and will likely ask for a Switch for Christmas. I got a PS4 to play Death Stranding when it comes out (I also got Shadow of the Colossus, Last Guardian, and Last of Us for good measure in the interim). Point being, I’ve

I played Okami when it came out for PS2 and I was in love instantly. I had grown tired waiting for Twilight Princess to come out (which was just to have it as a Wii launch title which also aggravated me) but since I played them at the same time I have to give it to Okami. It out-Zelda’d Zelda.

Nice! I’ve been playing Kiwami 1 off and on for the past month. I started the series with 3 so it’s nice catching up on the things I “know” but haven’t seen for myself. Hope you have fun with it.

Wow, that’s awesome. I’m sorry to say that I’m not that familiar with the Yakuza series, but that really reminds me of how cool the Persona opening videos are. Videogames with such kickass opening videos feel like movies or tv shows with equally incredible opening credits - they immerse you in the world, get your mind

Oh snap!

Now playing

Bonus: Since you won’t hear this song in the US release due to some license rights, here’s the amazing Japanese version of the opening video:

Stand Alone Complex is one of the finest TV shows ever created.
