A lot of people seem to mistake “this isn’t funny” with “I’m offended” or “I’m upset,” or even “I feel hurt” when in actuality the two do not go hand in hand. This doesn’t seem like being oversensitive, this is just pointing out that the material of the joke relies on ignorance. Sometimes jokes are just poorly written.

I mean...considering that the entire late night show premise is built on people thinking celebrities daily activities are interesting, I don’t see why you would think this is all that weird.

Any posthuman civilization is extremely unlikely to run a significant number of simulations of their evolutionary history

Actually I'm kind of hoping that this really is all a simulation. It would make it ok that the world makes no sense at all.
