I don’t think Elon’s worried about the base model 3 being slightly out-ranged by the Chevy Bolt.

It’s not going to suddenly make people flock to the Bolt.

Its not really that superior though. Sure you get an IP but everything else works better on the Tesla. The driving is better, the charging is better, the tech integration is more seamless.

I drove both and went with the Tesla.  Tesla has much better integrations and the drive is far better than the Bolt.  Plus I bought the Performance trim so I’m significantly faster.

“Meanwhile, once you figure in the outrageously high CO2 battery fabrication costs, pretty much any Tesla in 80% of the US exceeds that diesel Jetta’s figure by 50-10%”

This is an absurdly myopic argument.

The article itself takes great pains to differentiate NOx emissions from CO2. You are being obtuse so that you can play “devil’s advocate”, but really, you are intentionally obfuscating the issue with bad-faith noise. Liquidwombat saying “we’re not talking about CO2 we’re talking about nitrogen oxides” is not, as you

You want to cite those battery fab CO2 costs? Everything thing I have seen about them has all the scrupulousness of the old Hummer vs. Prius bullshit.

“The final rule is expected to bar California, the nation’s most populous state and a trend-setter on environmental protection initiatives, from establishing its own vehicle emissions rules.”

What kind of nonsense are you talking about? If you noticed, SpaceX was the CHEAPEST one while offering the most services. That is also why they conquered 60% of the global commercial launch market in 2018. By being cheaper and better.

He didn’t manipulate the government, he provided/provides a superior product at a reduced cost, and is now starting to reap the rewards (after going essentially bankrupt on the way). Conversely, the boring thing seems like it’s not going to work out, but expecting people to only hit home runs is a bit disingenuous.

Sounds like you have an investment in the Vegas monorail!

The Leaf Plus is great except the Tesla 3 exists. As long as that is true, I can’t imagine why anyone would buy the Plus.

I’m still not sure what the advantage of an electric car is, for the owner. It seems to me you give up the ability to do long range trips, and for about the same price as aninternal combustion engine. Then, there are the battery issues, as most of the US is cold. What’s the selling point?

Long story short, it’s still a problem because Nissan is a butt.

I was neutral on Toronto winning the NBA title, mainly because Aubrey and his antics off-set my admiration for some of the team’s players, but I was super happy to see Lin get a ring. Seems like a genuinely nice guy and humble... something you don’t see much of in the NBA (or sports in general) nowadays.

Starz’s new spy-fi show The Rook is already contributing to AV Club paid placements

As much as I enjoyed this write-up, I have to agree with the wife: much has been lost in translation. The book had a strange, kind of playful tone, but the show seems to be trying very hard to contort itself into the shape of Counterpart. We all miss Counterpart, but this is a disservice to both properties.

This may all be true and well-reasoned, but man this show is so boring as to be unwatchable.

I prefer the looks of black, too. Two-tone interiors look overwrought, especially if plastic pieces in the car are anything other than black.

Black interiors are the only ones that don’t look awful after a few years. They also look less dated long term.
