It is strange how KD’s social media usage has inspired so much handwringing when he is far from the only opinionated athlete out there. And everybody cares about other people’s opinions of them, even if they refuse to admit it.

Briefly coming out of retirement to say that this is the absolute dumbest fucking complaint piece I have ever seen on Jalopnik.  Did Peter Orosz write this under Aaron’s byline?

Right?  Do you know who I have to listen to on my way to and from work every day?  Nobody, because I’m all alone in my car with the radio off and the windows down.  Those 35-40 minutes are the only quiet times I get in the day, but wanting to enjoy a quiet drive (or in this case ride) is now elitist?  Talk about sour

This is a pretty lame take.  The only complaint should be that the feature is exclusive to Uber Black.

Aaron needs to fulfill his article quota or else his boss Patrick George will find out he was goofing off all day with his buddy HamNo.

Yeah, and to be honest (not to sound heartless) but I don’t care about learning anything about my Uber driver. I wish them the best as a fellow human, but I have no duty to do anything other than give them money in exchange for the ride.

Your take is idiotic. Hopefully they roll out this service for all levels of Uber. I’m here for a ride, not a conversation.

Trying to paint “a preference for silence” as “class warfare” is... beyond strange. Like only the wealthy understand and appreciate the value of silence—an ever-decreasing and ever-more-rare commodity.

The product page adds that “if you’re in the mood to chat, that’s an option too.” No one will select this. But in some ways it’s just as bad as the Shut The Fuck Up Mode. It also creates an unfair expectation for someone who is not being paid to be your therapist or whatever.

Indeed, a tiny notice on your phone to please be quiet is horrifying.  I don’t understand how these people can muster the willpower to keep going without driving their car off a cliff.

Or have you just run out of actual shit to complain about today?

Uber is problematic in many ways, but I’m just not sure why this is such a big deal: if the driver knows ahead of time that the passenger wants to just stare out the window or look at his/her phone in peace, why should that be so offensive?

For some drivers, it saves some them the pressure of being friendly/chatty to

I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s how a limo service can work, if you request it.

1st Gear: This is nothing new and is exactly why Tesla has been rushing to get a Gigafactory online in China ASAP.

Better a filthy reaction than her normal wooden ones.

FFS with these bullshit clickbait headlines. There’s a way to write engaging content that doesn’t treat your audience like little babies, but instead the AV Club is just another marathon runner soiling themselves in the race to the bottom.

I can see every builder / site manager around here buying one. They get to be 'green' and have a rediculous truck. It's not like they ever actually get out of their truck anyways...

I’m an adult. I own a car.

To see Lime and Bird complaining about another company doing their work for them is more than just faintly amusing to me.

Well sure one is cool and fun. The problem is when a couple hundred of them are clogging your greenway project.
