That point was probably when Seth MacFarlane relinquished control to focus on Family Guy or whatever crooner music project he was onto that week. Once it was in different hands, it got so much better.

Season 4 (+ a decent amount of season 3) through, say, season 7 are incredibly consistently hilarious. Once it started leaning really hard into the absurdity it became, as you say, magical.
More than that, it had to BECOME fun. The first couple seasons had their moments but were pretty meh. Then at some point it decided to stop trying to be topical and just be a show about a control freak with access to sci-fi CIA technology and something magical happened.
Imagine seeing the word “prestigious” next to American Dad!’s title some fourteen years ago. That show’s truly done something Family Guy spectacularly failed to do - remain consistently fun so many years into its run, and is on par with The Simpsons on the amount of quality content it produced (maybe not as…
Or a few more completely bonkers Christmas episodes. Love them.
<whispering> Riiicky... Spaaaanish...
I’m still waiting for a Wheels & The Legman or a Tales Of Ricky Spanish spinoff series.
The hosts in the valley are protected from humans because Dolores is the only one who knows where the data is stored. That doesn’t mean Dolores doesn’t have access to them. My out there hot take is that Dolores reprogrammed one of the marbles with the identity of Maeve’s daughter which is her secret weapon to use…
No. Delores wouldn’t trust Armistice. I’m still leaning toward Angela.
I like your theory - a lot - but it doesn’t seem to jibe to me with New Charlotte’s personality. I’m particularly thinking of her plaintive “Why can’t I be me, like you are?” to Dolores - a lot more vulnerable and deferential to Dolores than I would expect William to be at that moment. On the other hand, whoever it is…
Clementine. Thanks. I was trying to remember her name. I put Clementine above Armistice. Delores didn’t have much to do with Armistice in seasons 1 & 2 ... unless by scanning all the files, Delores knows everyone intimately now ... so maybe she would trust Armistice as a partner and confidant. “I own you now” suggests…
The funny thing was that when she was choking him she made a remark about remembering who she used to be--at first I thought that was a hint at who’s in her, but I’m thinking that actually it means she’s starting to gain more sentience and connect with Charlotte. Her journey may be like Dolores’ journey in season 1,…
I actually don’t mind if it’s a multi-ep mystery, cause it’s a side plot. Let it dangle, throw in some teases, reveal some stuff and let it rest, then pull off the big reveal.
Cutting patterns into Charlotte’s body made me think it might be Armistice, trying to recreate her tattoos.
I’m wondering if that’s Wyatt wearing the Hale suit. That would explain the codependency and why Dolores is going by that name and why they know each other better than anyone.
That shit gave me goosebumps. I can't wait!!!
I thought his opening bit about Anthony Bourdain’s suicide was strange. I could see his point. How can some guy with a dream job kill himself while a guy who has nothing doesn’t kill himself. But all I could think of was if anyone could understand how having the dream job doesn’t protect you from mental illness…
Yes. “Lowest Common denominator” would be much a better title than “Sticks and Stones” for this insensitive act.
He just keeps banging the same drum over and over and then getting mad when people don’t find his 2004 persona funny anymore. I legit cringed through roughly half of this stand up and I won’t be back for another.
I watched and it felt like his other Netflix efforts—in the wrong decade. If I’m honest, I’ll admit that I don’t find stand up comedy very funny anymore simply because there’s nothing innovative happening with it. I compared the genre to watching a slam dunk contest, Family Guy episode, or reading a Deadpool comic.…
