That is the ugliest thing I’ve seen today. And before you ask, yes I looked at my mom this morning.
China and the US have the same $7,500 credit, and the credit probably helps expand the market a little.
I’m not shitting on them for this. I’m just saying it is (and for a long time has been) a distraction of engineering resources that could be applied to making better volume products. I hope they pull off a great product that makes the enthusiasts happy, but I fail to see how it will solve their other business issues.…
Yeah I get it, companies need a halo car. But maybe you should only put a halo on an angel, not GM. I’m sure it’s an impressive piece of engineering, but, so what? When the next round of layoffs or corporate welfare requests come it, will this really matter?
Something looks off about the proportions on this thing. The rear wheels look comically small.
The only plausible way around this is over-the-air updates. There’s no way that a static OS and set of applications are going to be able to keep pace with the changes in the electronics industry.
The alternative—ceding control of your car’s infotainment system to CarPlay or Android Auto or whatever—is really much…
This is complicated. Haas just needs to get Newman’s Own as a sponsor, which would be a grand slam.
Genuine Q: then how do you explain tesla, uber and other self-driving cars doing relatively well* on semi-autonomous mode.
I’m glad the president recognizes we don’t subsidize anything in our own country that then gets exported.
But Tesla is already getting beaten by other automakers in price and range
More powerful? Seems to be as powerful as everything else in its class.
I really don’t understand how this is so much worse than the Model X when it comes to weight, range-per-battery-capacity, and power. Didn’t Audi look at the Model X and Model 3 and have that to go by when trying to make theirs better?
OK, I guess now we’ll get a bunch of people reiterating that Tesla is a scam and that as soon as the legacy automakers enter the market Tesla will get crushed.
Except, it turns out, maybe Tesla’s ten year head start on battery and motor drivetrain tech actually has paid some dividends? And the Model X doesn’t even…
Bjorn Nyland tested the E-Tron in mixed highway/city driving at 23°F, and got 205 miles out of it. 2.45 mi/kWh consumption. So yeah, Audi is under reporting.
As much as I despise Elon Musk, one thing you have to give Tesla is that their vehicles are very efficient in terms of miles per kwh. Both the Jaguar iPace and Audi eTron are very inefficient in comparison.

Lol
Nah, if anything goes wrong you’ll just swap out the whole unit and send in your old one to get back your core charge.
Lol
