Yeah, I knew people from college that saw amusement park gigs as a way to practice skills and pay the bills while trying to step up to something bigger. But it seems like Disney has succumbed to the same corporate mindset that requires more and more profit, damn the consequences.

Damn, where you at? Here in Chicagoland, a major grocery (Jewel) is offering Hormel Premium thick sliced at $7.99 for 24 oz., and Jimmy Dean 12 oz. at 2 for $7.

You’re not wrong for failing to be as moved by the film if you’re not familiar with the source material. When Lynch’s version was released the studio tried providing some kind of Spark Notes handout to help audiences that hadn’t read the book understand what was going on. Herbert created an incredibly rich world for

My guess is ATJ will play her in a flash forward in Paul’s visions

I get that there’s no canonical source for the story, either for Joker or the Waynes. But I still think that the story convincingly showed how the Reagan era systematically ripped apart social services to benefit the rich, leading to the disintegration of borderline people. And I didn’t think that Phoenix overplayed

Minimum wage in 1959 was $1.00. So one hour of minimum wage labor would get you 2 cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 sodas and change. Minimum wage now is $7.25, which wouldn’t even get you 1 cheeseburger, 1 order of fries and 1 soda.

I regularly buy boneless chops for $3/lb here in the Midwest. A well-grilled chop is an excellent alternative to steak, as long as you are willing to eat it medium rare. Even whole tenderloins are often on sale for less than that.

Around here, even OM bacon is regularly on sale for $5 per pound.

I’ve cut back on meat consumption for health and environmental reasons. But if you can throw in animal welfare as well, I will gladly give cultured meat a try.

The Stewart bit rankles not so much due to its chauvinism (which is mighty), but due to how often it re-surfaces. I fully expect someone to post it in these comments. It’s so incredibly stale, much like the ketchup on hot dogs thing. Move on, people.

I liked the first film as an exploration of how someone can unravel in a way that leads to a character as anti-social as the Joker is depicted. This is despite the love that the chuds and bros heaped upon it.

This is what pita pockets are made for.

I have to believe that anyone filing the tax form for the Section 179 deduction is going to have their tax return sent directly to audit review, much like anyone that claims the home office deduction.

Real estate agents probably aren’t trying to work a tax loophole. They do need a large enough vehicle to tote around buyers to showings, and a big ol’ luxury SUV gives those buyers the sense that they’re dealing with a winner. It’s all about the image.

Yes, the “flying is safer than driving” is always based on miles travelled, but the better comparison is based on time, i.e. hours spent in a travel mode. Flying covers way more miles per hour than driving, which skews the calculation.

Several people should be fired over this including executives

if your brother already paid for a test, you already know the answers.

I’m anticipating the whole “Old Town Road” bullshit all over again. Although Beyonce will handle it all more gracefully than L’il Nas X.
