@ infmom: I haven't checked recently (i.e. since MS bought them out) but they used to have either one or two versions of each program. One version if it worked on all Win95+ or two versions - one for Win9x and one for Win NT / ME / XP.
Whilst it is _probably_ OK, they sound like a third party - why would Google and Yahoo work together on something? I wouldn't let them have my other login accounts - I'd set up a new account for them, with a new email account (all set up through the same spam gourmet account, although I do get called overly paranoid…

I think that Vista stores passwords in other ways. In XP if the password is under 14 characters its stores them one way (LM - Lan Manager Hash?) but over 14 in another way (NTLM - NT Lan Manager?). That 'other' way is the better way and should be what Vista uses.
