Lucky you. I had a Saturn Ion rental that was rear ended 24 hours after I picked it up, from Emerald Aisle no less. Thank God!

Born and raised in the Bronx, moved to Manhattan until he retired. I had to show him how to use a gas pump. And when we rented, I drove.
Tantalizing!
My partner and I were sitting inside a swank restaurant many years ago with my late Mom, and a magnificent 1958 Oldsmobile sweeps through the valet area right outside. My first word as a child was ‘car’, so I exclaim “a 1958 Oldsmobile!”. The gentleman at the next table insists I’m wrong, that it’s a Buick. I don’t…
I have the receipts to prove it!
Before this generation they were no fun, but they absolutely did what they said on the tin.
My BFF never had a car until he retired and moved a few doors down from me in FL. He was apoplectic when his car wouldn’t start one day.
I’d like to agree, but I had to drive my father’s ancient Mercury Marquis with no brakes. It was incredibly ponderous, and it was the downsized one. No joy, period.

Maybe because I saw it live at 15, but 1970 in Watkins Glen. Emerson Fittipaldi in his Lotus pipped Jacky Ickx and his beautiful Ferrari who ran from the back of the field, and won the Championship posthumously for Jochen Rindt.
Indeed. Here I am with a 7 figure retirement driving a ten year old Fit - because I want to!
The BMW 128 came to mind, perhaps because I may be in the market for one in a year or so.
Good point.
He needs to go. Hopefully Trump is paying attention, and we'd do the same if he tried this shit.
Exactly the same response from me.
I’m also fascinated by its design, and rather like its innovation. I'm glad it exists.
In 1985 we rented an Alfa 33 to drive around Elba. At some point we drove up a hill through a tiny town and suddenly were on a goat track with no guardrails. The entire town came out to coach us backing down the mountain. The Alfa was terrific, though.
