That is the worst thing I've ever heard.

This is definitely stupid and whiny, but I'm not sure what banning these parties is going to do, really. It does seem like a punishment for a whole bunch of people who were not even tangentially involved.

They don't publish names of the accused because someone calls up the cops and is like "Hey, so-and-so- raped me the other day, okay bye." They publish names of those who have been arrested for that crime (and sometimes not even then). Why would someone accuse your stepson of raping them (and have a credible enough

That would certainly be true if this were a discussion on a forum for lawyers, but it is not. On a news/pop culture blog, it is very common for people to say things like "This criminal should get the death penalty" regardless of their specific knowledge of capital punishment laws in the state or country in which the

Sadly, you are too dumb to understand the difference between "should" and "will." Sometimes laws don't work or are insufficient and should be amended accordingly.

The accuser is not on trial, and if the state did not think that there was a case to be made against the accused, they would not take the case. It is not in the state's best interest to take cases that are bullshit because it doesn't always win.

I agree. It's also just so wildly unprofessional.

EDIT: But it should be under some circumstances, and this would certainly be one of them.

I think you're right! I hope that's true. I just see a lot of women (and men, for that matter) in their 20s who are very into feminism, but never take it past street harassment and "cool, Jennifer Lawrence eats!" Those aren't bad things to talk about by any means, but I'm concerned that the (wonderful) recent burst of

I like Emma Watson a lot, and I hope to read the rest of the article, but I do sort of hope she says something more... interesting. Is that wrong? I just think it's a bit of a waste for her to use her platform to tell people that women should be allowed to run for president and should speak freely at family dinners

That is definitely true. I think it's because many Americans see Catholics publicly and fervently opposing abortion (and, to a lesser degree, same-sex marriage... though I'm not sure everyone knows that's to a lesser degree), much like fundamentalist evangelicals. It is pretty weird, though, considering how many of

Why would you use "she continued to have sex with him" as evidence for him not having sexually assaulted her? That doesn't strengthen your case at all, it just makes you seem like you have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh, I totally agree. I'm not interested in writing off anyone forever for any reason— it would be great if everyone could accept that their past behavior was wrong and work toward ending that kind of behavior. I just don't want to hear him be defensive about the public mistreatment of his wife if he isn't actually

But Drake's music is better than TSwift's.

He has quite honestly not a leg to stand on when it comes to defending his wife. He is 100% the reason that she's in this mess, and he didn't even publicly apologize when she did (I don't know that celebrities should have to publicly apologize for mistreating others, but if she's apologizing— which is insane— then he

Are they really being outclassed by Ray Rice? They're being absolutely terrible, no doubt, but they're not actually physically harming their loved ones. People need to stop harassing the Rices, but why give him any respect?

Oh, I absolutely agree. I was just trying to say that it can't be assumed that that's the case with every situation. I'm sorry that happened to your family.

His dad's Instagram is a national (well, continental...) treasure.

He served several years in prison for theft and arson. I still think he should have custody if June is going to continue seeing this guy, though.

That's really not how that works— frequently there will be several children of the same sex living together and only one will be abused.
