I am very confused. Are these seniors not adults? How do they claim to have the right to remove adults from anything or place that they are legally allowed to be? Are they wards or something?

“They don’t do colleges because their fees are too high for colleges to afford.”

Heidi Heitenkamp and Lisa Murkowski both put their jobs in fairly serious jeopardy today in no small part to represent the Native women in their states.  Heitenkamp even said that if she was making a political decision that she would vote yes, but she had to make a moral decision.

It wasn’t for nothing to me.  It was inspiring.  I hate that she felt like she had to do this, and I hate that she received so much shit for it, and I hate that her life has been upended.  But it wasn’t for nothing to me, and to my fellow assault survivors.

This is actually how I feel about anal prolapse porn. Not a thing that should be normalized, should be illegal to produce or distribute.

I’m a straight woman of color and my dad sexually abused me. Let me spell out to you what incest meant to me. I can remember only a very few moments of my childhood ever being happy. There are no childhood photos of me smiling. I spent much of my childhood in my bed, under a blanket, crying. I was completely

“Unmarketably exploitive” lol are you kidding? It’s nearly impossible to avoid fauxcest the last few years. It’s half the titles! It’s all either teen, and/or stepfamily, normal people doing sex is the minority now.

This is not something to be celebrated. She’s not any kind of “empowered woman breaking barriers” in her industry. Rather, she’s exploiting the fact that she’s a woman as some sort of palliative to sell this otherwise unmarketably exploitive trash, which, while it evidently has a market, doesn’t make it any more worth

These are really important points. It means she’s taking an especially huge risk in coming forward. I wonder if the Clearance-Yanker In Chief will get involved.

This is discussed over on the Splinter thread, but just for anyone who didn’t see it:

And men know this already.

Because men are socialized to believe that women want sex, but for a variety of reasons, may need “convincing.” And even in these examples, the coercive sex was then followed by consensual sex, reinforcing the shitty behaviour.

nor did he concern himself with the validity of the 20+ accusers.

The reason Merrick Garland was cast aside: because fuck you, that’s why.

Does Ed Whelan not believe teenagers will go 4 miles for a party with booze? Really? It actually kind of explains why he doesn’t believe this incident happened, apparently Ed Whelan doesn’t believe in anything remotely logical.

The bigger point is that Buruma is straight up guilty of bad journalism. He didn’t do ANY due diligence, by his own admission, on the nitty gritty of the entire Ghomeshi case nor did he concern himself with the validity of the 20+ accusers. Buruma openly admitted that Ghomeshi approached him with the idea for this

It’s becoming increasingly clear that what they all want to say, but can’t quite bring themselves to openly admit, is “Brett Kavanaugh is of our tribe, therefore we will defend him against outsiders.” It’s the only defense they need. He’s a conservative, so he’s always right. They don’t want to admit that’s how they

That’s the part that bugs the hell out of me the most. There is a shockingly large body of research that shows doctors are awful at treating obesity. If obesity is a health condition that needs treatment, what they’re doing is equivalent to using leeches for a fever. It’s at best pointless at worse counter-productive.

Why is it so hard for so many people to just not be an asshole to (fat) people?!?!

I don’t think I fully understand the allegation. Rooster was anticipating a longer day-of chat but got a shorted one and felt disassociated during the filming? Did any of their boundaries get crossed? Or did they just want to talk for longer?
I know there are also power imbalance issues in this story and that’s its
