To be fair, though, Maslany is one of the very few actors who would be perfect for any role. Hannibal Lecter. Charles Foster Kane. Ace Ventura. Robocop. Wouldn’t matter, she’d knock it out of the park.

i’m sure that this is some quota thing. they probably had something else they could have run with in the barrel but ‘joss whedon’ tends to pull a lot of ad revenue clicks no matter how insubstantial the ‘news’ turns out to be

I’m more curious about why this has been so prevalent. How do the shows carry the motivation to wanting to make animated cast diverse, but seem to have a lack of motivation in extending that diversity to the actual cast?
