Nobody has misappropriated the word. It has been used in various ways since the 1500's. People were robbing each other blind in the 1800's... Not to mention Homer’s Odyssey.

I mean they aren't really the same though. Blind Playthrough implies a large lack of knowledge (like "going in blind") where as first could mean you have read through info on the game, or played it before; and that this is just your first attempt to play through the full game.

A first playthrough means you anything as long as it is your first time playing. You could use a guide. Have help from other players. Already know the story before going into it. And more.

There may be no shortage of alternatives, but there’s also no shortage of alternate definitions for the word ‘blind’. It would probably be easier and make more sense to refer to people as being ‘visually impaired’ instead of ‘blind’, than it is to find alternate words for every other definition of ‘blind’, which among…

Blind playthrough, to me, is far more descriptive. Sure I can show you my first playthrough of Marvel’s Spiderman after having read all about the reviews etc. That isn’t “going in blind”

This seems excessively touchy.  People do realize words like blind have meanings beyond a reference to a disability, yes?

Isn’t “blind” as in, “sight unseen” or “preventing sight” already a widely used, non-disparaging term the world over? I’ve never once seen any reference to “blind” as a means to disparage the differently abled.

What dialect of English do you speak, where the most important definition of blind is something other than “unable to see because of disease or injury?" Sounds fascinating!
