Holy crap, that guy's pretty good.

For me, it's the extra scripts on the Gawker pages. Chrome hangs up on "Waiting for ad.doubleclick.com" and similar messages. Unfortunately, there are no script blockers with the effectiveness and ease of use of NoScript on Firefox for Chrome, so I just reload.

I did not have sex with that woman. I wanted to, but I didn't.
There is evidence that some indicators of lying are universal. Most notable is the work on microexpressions by Joseph Hager and Paul Ekman. It's an extension of universal facial emotions, but your point that specific acts like looking away or keeping eye contact can be specific to a culture and might not shared by…
I think those "rules" are more like guidelines. If you see a couple of different indicators of repeated lying, then you can be reasonably sure of a lie, but there's always room for error.
This kind of lie detection is not an exact science, but more like general guidelines. The FBI uses them more to lead them in the right direction in interrogations and questioning, but won't be used as evidence. Conclusive lies are more suited to things like FMRI lie detectors or other potential replacements to…
I'd love to get company dress shirts with Aperture Science and Black Mesa logos on them. Badass and good enough to wear in front of your gaming-illiterate boss.
Ha, you compared the general population to children twice in your post. It's probably fitting given how new the ability to access massive amounts of information with little effort is.
The Honor Harrington series by David Weber. It's space military scifi, and the tech, physics, capabilities of the ships are explained in great detail (with appendices explaining the tech more fully). The main character is a woman, Honor Harrington, and she's a very well written character and the stories are very…
Fuck, I'd love to be a concept artist. I can't even draw a sucky circle and those guys and gals are like gods.

That's definitely true. The problem you point out isn't the fact that media is biased, since all news and editorial are biased in some way, but the bigness of television and newspaper makes it's reporting a de facto standard. My hope is that the general public (and subsequently politicians) can learn to dig deeper…
I agree with AraRichards. All of your comments are arguing on a philosophical platform, but you don't provide concrete evidence for anything. Examples of protest movements, their membership makeup, their intended purpose, their effect on government, etc., etc.
So was every other major protest in history. It's only after the fact that people put meaning on them.

Did Kotaku clone Michael Fahey?
Don't worry, we understand it's not for everyone, Frank.
No that's the woman part. My girlfriend is handy for changing lightbulbs because of this.
