The problem is people don’t want to be the driver any more. It’s kind of hard when you need a driver at all times.

Assuming all control systems remain intact, a jetliner has at least three points of failure: the autopilot system, the pilot, and the co-pilot. A personal autonomous car with no back up manual control has one point of failure.

Which is a problem I have with autonomous vehicles anyway. Even if it’s 100% automatic, the system’s going to fail at some point. What am I going to do then?

They are in the sense that people don’t actually care.

To which I’m surprised this wasn’t a thing to begin with.

I thought of a scenario on the way to work: how would you know if someone is creeping on you if you live next to a PokeStop? This game gives people an “excuse” to loiter.

Ahahaha, no.

That Major effin’ nailed it.

Airplanes for all intents and purposes can take off, fly to its destination, and land all by themselves. Airplanes are the autonomous vehicle we have today (they just can’t taxi themselves, but that’s another thing).

Marketers are the obfuscators of truth, since “autopilot” sounds better than “car will try to drive itself on a highway in ideal conditions mode”

I don’t think there was. Though I’m pretty sure it was made clear that all it did was control the throttle.

Let me put it in context.

Well I don’t know. When cruise control came out, some jackwagon driving an RV thought it was autonomous driving and went back to do something.

A healing sniper? I almost want to buy this game now.

I won’t call them stupid for not knowing the FAA definition and the regulations around it, but considering how many people complain about how crappy their electronic device is in some form or fashion, when it comes to safety, I will call people stupid for assuming that software and machines are 100% guaranteed safe

It only makes a difference in pretty press photos. Otherwise if this detail bothers someone so much, they shouldn’t be driving.

And even in aircraft, autopilot doesn’t mean the pilot(s) can go off and do other things. You would think that little tidbit would tip Tesla or someone else off that you’re not really supposed to take your mind off the road. It just lessens the burden of what your brain has to process.

Looking at this, the truck was something like 7-8th in line and the warning sign disappeared as soon as the truck was crossing the intersection. So either the driver saw the sign but couldn’t read it/wasn’t sure what it was for/etc. or it was shuffled in the back of the driver’s mind by the time he or she got to the

The problem I have is when people pervert the works from people like Wah to get out of paying for games when it’s still readily available for purchase.

I think this is just a special snowflake. You know, like that neighbor who insists the public road is their parking spot.
