You can get extremely well educated engineers and architects for the equivalent of $60k in Spain. Double or triple that number for US counterparts. 

Wages are much, much lower in Spain. I would reckon that’s the #1 reason. Seasoned engineers and architects get paid less than rookies here in the US.
