In any case I think the point you are trying to make here is that people shouldn't be trying to live beyond their means. If money is so tight that $5 is a really big deal then perhaps that $5 would be better spent on other things besides the promise of a game at some point in the future.

In most cases if a company you owe the money to goes bankrupt your debt is transferred to those who the company owed its money to prior to bankruptcy. I don't know if this would be feasible for very small amounts of cash. You might get away with that one.
