Most of those "thousands of people a year" are in shady situations anyway and restrictions on guns aren't going to stop gangs and criminals from killing/harming/threatening each other.

Uhhh yeah they are actually less prevalent today than they used to be. A couple years ago these popped up all the time. Now it is every so often you see a good one but the initial wow factor has died off.
