I work at one of the world's largest financial service providers, located in Europe.

@24fc: Agree with your post for great parts, especially related to audio. Regarding video and your comment on BluRay however: please note that figures now seem to indicate that BluRay adoption, at least here in Europe, is going quicker now than when DVD started. So maybe this part of your conclusion is a little bit

Well, the reason I for sure stick with MP3 is:

Thanks! Skin was broken since yesterday as timage said, this fixes it.

Well I am Dutch, but as most Dutch people can read English, especially those going to a website like Lifehacker in the first place, I think more Dutch people visit this site than its Dutch cousin.

Hmm, to me a 100% strength password that nobody can remember without writing down still is less secure than a less strong password you can remember.

WebGuide MCE add-in for remote control only works in Vista.

Oh, and be sure to have a flat rate no data-limit data plan before you even condider to use it and absolutely shut it of before going abroad (unless you have also free unlimited roaming, but for us Europeans that is not something normal people can afford).

Potential great application if not for two things:

@GoingLikeSixty: Would not say that to hard. Before I moved in with my girlfriend she had a 80 kilobit/sec connection (believe me, they still exist). When I checked her router I found out that not only it was unprotected, but also that 5 (!) people were active outside her own PC on that connection.

@rogerkaplan: Oh, and how many people would willingly stick a needle infected with a fatal disease in their veins, even when they are told that the chance of getting the disease is 1 in 17 million and by doing it the one who asks will donate US$ 1 million to charity?

@rogerkaplan: It does influence my action when there is really no inconvenience for me to do so.

@rogerkaplan: Paranoid or not, of each of above examples (apart from the file downloading one) court cases have actually occurred in the Netherlands the past year.

@goodevans: So ROFL. But yes, that is a way of saying what I wanted to say in a much shorter form.

I very much like the theory of Fon and would be very happy if I could convince myself that it would be a good idea to use it. In the US free official WiFi spots are kinda common (at least in the cities), but here in the Netherlands they are so few that its negligible. Using the unofficial WiFi spots (read: people who

@kaushalmodi: Difference is that with the online version your passwords are stored on their central server.

@NoWin: Funny. The general public over here is not willing to bank without a token.

Firstly: I fully agree with the commenters doubting if it is a good idea to give your e-banking passwords to any third party. Personally, I do not care if it is a startup, a well known brand or the Pentagon, they all can be hacked. Ok, also my bank can be hacked and my PC can be hacked, but I like to try at least to

Frankly, I am not amazed at all. Most people do not experience any need for online apps, so do not search for them and do not know about them.

Lots of games for PC, PS3, Wii, PSP and Nintendo DS I won't mention here.
