They do in Japan as well (excepting the ones that just roar / growl). They even get famous voice actors / actresses to do them. For example, Bulbasaur and Rei (from Eva) are voiced by the same person.

I actually looked at some numbers in another discussion, and if you count up TV series per year (based on wikipedia numbers, so might be off), there's been more anime in the past 3 years than all of the 90s. I think it was about 1.3 times. Individual seasons now can beat out entire years.

ANN tried to have Bamboo doing running reviews of a bunch of streaming shows. She got completely burned out after a couple of seasons. This was even though she was only watching a fraction of things after a few weeks. As you say, doing all of them is crazy.

It's painful to watch. I tried watching one ep because Chihara Minori's character was in it (but only for a min ;-;). Some of the voices were really grating (French girl, camera girl) and nothing really happened.

Nodame Cantabile. That's pretty much it as far as good ones is concerned.
