It didn’t feel Top Gear-ish, and Matt telling Eddie about the button then telling him not to drive came off dramatically cringy. Plus they barley talked about the cars during the whole segment.

The old guys doing fun things with cars is what made the show. Porter's book explained a key point: the further from cars they got, the worse a bit/segment got.

I watched the behind the scene clips of Top Gear and seen how hard the trio and crews works to make Top gear great.

I wanted to give it a chance, and I kind of thought it was okay, but after writing this, I realize just how bad it really is.

My parents and my wife both enjoyed watching old Top Gear with me. I loved that about the show. My wife has no interest in cars whatsoever, but she’d voluntarily sit down with me and watch. My dad became a real fan of it.

It’s funny that his best segment for this episode was on Extra Gear.

I enjoy it just as any other car show but lets face facts here, it wasn’t the cars that made Top Gear. It’s those damn old senile bastards that did, which is why i only watched the first episode of the new top gear today and i’ll be watching every episode of the Grandest Tour
