The quality of the cold cuts themselves aside, I think I might enjoy a sub sammy where the slices spill out like a cornucopia of deli meat.

That was a well formed personal incredulity fallacy.

Your anecdotes aside. I work on these systems (DoD), and have personally witnessed systems resolve these very challenges (even more complex when you take into account the need to convoy). lol

“I bet you’re wrong.”

Autonomous Semi Truck says:

I think they’re becoming more common, but like the above cabin aerodynamic piece that’s now ubiquitous, I’m sure it’ll take time for large companies to make the investment.

That’s not accurate whatsoever. Tesla doesn’t charge it’s customers to use auto-pilot. It’s akin to complaining about your beta software being buggy when the stable release is available. You opted into the beta program. You had to acknowledge ALL of the risks before using it. At that point it’s user error.

Counterpoint/question:

Aren’t a lot of these trailers now running with those skirts too (I think they’re designed to increase fuel efficiency)? That would have likely set off the rear end collision system.

“ If I had to venture a guess, the truck driver thought he had enough time and expected cars to slow down / stop for him.”

Is that Denton there on the mat getting kicked?

Ohh REALLLLLY? lol

The precedence was set a LONG time ago. Public Betas on vehicle safety features have been around since the airbag (cruise control, auto-stop, ABS, the list goes on). It’s not required for that truck driver to volunteer for the beta. It’s more than likely that Tesla had to prove to the NHSTA that the accident rate was

“But you don’t public beta this with real people in the fucking car.”

Minor distinction. The guy was specifically DEVGRU. He was a member of Seal Team Six.

“If you have to slap that sort of disclaimer on a product, it is likely not ready for public use.”

“The propensity to see threats and conspiracy everywhere is a trait of people who feel isolated in some way.”

If the French do indeed dispatch them, I hope the hosting team shows them a ton of respect afterwards. They sure as hell deserve it.

Now’s a great time for them to finance it. In fact, I would be surprised if they took on a good portion of it as debt. The cost of repatriating overseas funds is far higher, at 30%, than a large financing deal, at 3-4%. That’s what MSFT just did for the Linkedin deal.

In order for them to be resold within the US the EPA must first approve the fix that VW offers.
