Ever heard of “civil forfeiture”? Basically police can take your stuff permanently just because they consider you a suspect, that’s the poor people version. So yeah, fuck these oligarchs. If it’s theirs, they can come get it in person.

Given that asset forfeiture already scoops up tens of billions of dollars a year, much of it from people who can’t afford it and don’t deserve it, why not seize something from someone who can afford it* and probably does deserve it for once?
Haven’t we already fallen off this slope? ...if it gets anywhere near the US, we can just send some local police out and let them use civil asset forfeiture laws to declare the property guilty until proven innocent, right?
Depending on the circumstances, we might also be able to re-christen it the Schadenfreude
Maybe.... but I dont own a 700 million dollar yacht or a 7000 dollar yacht. So that will get filed in my “ less than zero fucks given” folder.
For you, maybe.
had a similar story - got tagged communting into DC one day in MD where you could still at least do the speed limit before getting inside the beltway. cop asked me what I was doing. I told him I was in a hurry to sit in traffic. he chuckled and asked me if he had pulled me over before. told him I hadn’t been pulled in…
The only thing that has ever gotten me out of a ticket is to reply, “stupidity” when an officer asked why I was driving so fast. The cop said, “what?” and I doubled down that the only reason for my speed was me being dumb. The cop laughed and laughed and then gave me a warning. Also note - saying you have to poop…
It’s not a real dent, just a sticker (like the headlights).
Seems like a bad time to buy a new car, just in general. Or a used car. Any car, really.
These actions aren’t exclusive to the EV6, Kia dealers are always trying to pull this crap.
There’s no reason whatsoever that Mazda should release a RWD/I6 sedan in this market, at least not from a business-sense standpoint. That arrangement will likely see the light of day in the upcoming CX-90 (the CX-9's replacement).
Most of the population doesn't live on the beach, all my cars have zero rust. Usually the rusty cars we see around here are either from out of state or pickups used to for pool companies (chlorine does a number on them).
Great article as usual Mercedes. Love these kinds of write-ups!
Screw the Raptor version....if the regular one looks even close to as good as this, has a decent interior, and can tow say....8k lbs this would be an awesome buy.
As someone who is currently trying to procure a Golf R, I can tell you that they're nearly impossible to find, and when you can find one, they're selling for $10k over that $45k MSRP. It's a fucking nightmare out there right now.
I enjoy the tone of these farewell posts, but holy shit is it depressing to see the list of talent that has moved on the greener pastures!
I’m just impressed that David turned being that weird old guy down the road whose yard is full of car parts and who is always covered in oil into a career.
It’s nice to clutch pearls, but the included link was missing the hyphen. It’s a fairly easy error to conceive, and likely to fly under the radar on printed material.
