Definitely agree. Madison (where I went to school) and Milwaukee (where I live) are overwhelmingly liberal, but they gerrymandered the districts to gain and maintain power. Now all three branches are red and they restructured the Supreme Court so they could replace our liberal Chief Justice with seniority with an

I thought an eagle punch was when you punch someone in the stomach right before he climaxes causing them to screech and flap their arms.

Judo is designed to take the force of an attacker and use it against them... if the attacker happens to be a judo practitioner. Judo is a sport, and a fairly closed one at that. It has no strikes, and absolutely does not take into account dealing with attacks from them. If you think it does, you should go to a judo

It didn’t take long for the conspiracy theorists to weigh in.

Seriously, Rousey will not be able to beat this Holm, ever. Holm is going to have to be injured or something for her to have a chance.

I certainly wouldn’t go so far as to call her career over; I think that’s too strong a statement. But I would agree with you that her deficiencies absolutely were exposed. I also tend to think that the result would more or less be the same if they fought again. Rousey certainly can’t box with her, and if she

Rousey is a champion in sport judo. In sport judo they wear gis and punching and kicking aren’t allowed. Judo without a gi is another matter entirely. It’s clear that Ronda needs to work at that aspect.

Rousey is a great Judo practitioner which translated very easily to MMA, and it has worked for her when she faced totally unprepared opponents who did not work hard enough on their judo defense. Many of Ronda’s opponents literally played right into Ronda’s strength, very early in the fight. Holly did her homework and

Well, they don’t. Because there are not a lot of former professional boxers who fight in the UFC. There are MMA fighters who can “box”, but they typically fail at using good technique, footwork, and head movement if boxing is not their base. Even a lot of former professional boxers abandon their technique and opt for

Ronda focused on grappling her whole life and she has already peaked. She’s not going to learn something new or groundbreaking. And Holly’s striking kept Ronda from being able to use her strength. You can certainly win a fight without knowing how to box, but if someone knows how to box, you’re going to have a very,

Where were the leg kicks to Holm’s (heavily weighted) front leg? Holm was circling away, so a double leg shot wasn’t the answer, but when the hip toss didn’t work why not drop down to a body lock or double? One trick pony, for reals.

I don’t think it would have mattered. Holms superior footwork would never allow Rousey to get close enough to grapple, and even if she could Holm’s has honed her defensive skill set to not allow a full hold on her, and keep it standing. Remember Holm’s doesn’t have to learn how to grapple simply defend against it.

The real weakness that I saw here is that Ronda relies far too heavily on that hip toss. Correia sat back and stuffed that throw a few times in their short fight. Any judoka as skilled and decorated as Ronda should have a counter throw for when this happens. But when Holm defended it, Ronda resorted to brawling.

Problem is she doesn’t seem to know how to grapple someone who can pop and move. Rousey is a bull, no lateral speed at all. It looks to me like she trained a LOT at grappling other grapplers, and trained a LOT at punching, and has huge holes on defense and movement.

You don’t have to be able to box, but you do have to be able to deal with someone who can. It’s very difficult to deal with someone throwing attacks at you that are totally outside your own range of experience, so the best way to learn to deal with a boxer is to be one yourself. This is why the best rounded fighters

Even without the consideration of family, etc., at her age it is probably a good time to retire. Go out on top. But the potential money and the competitiveness that got her into the sport in the first place probably preclude that. When it gets right down to it, women’s MMA is a very niche sport. Holm isn’t going to be

That’s a great point. I personally think the skill difference between the two outweigh the affect of age (assuming they fight in the next couple years). I also think that modern science and training is pushing that mid-30’s athletic decline back a bit, especially in someone who is a a complete professional like Holm.

Winner , winner chicken dinner. So many mma and ufc fighters have horrible boxing skills. It’s arguably the most important skill in mma.

She’ll never admit it but she’s got to be terrified at the prospect of going back in the ring with Holm. She was completely out to sea in the fight and her boxing isn’t going to get any better. From a pure skill point of view, she had no business being in the same ring as Holm. I think she’s got to come up with a

It’s that kind of prejudicial ideology that puts us in the position we’re in today as a world.
